Safer Brand fights the Battle Over Organic gardens with New Best Value Concentrates

Safer Brand fights the Battle Over Organic gardens with New Best Value Concentrates

All New Best Value Concentrates from Safer Brand

Lititz, PA (PRWEB) August 06, 2011

Organic gardeners are turning to concentrate formulas which allow the gardener to get multiple doses out of the same concentrate. While Safer® Brand has a full line of successful organic gardening concentrate products, some gardeners are looking for a smaller concentrate formula that will eliminate their pest problems, without requiring storage of their unused concentrate. The single dose line of concentrates from Safer Brand provides gardeners with a formula that allows for fast and efficient pest control, in a convenient size.

The Best Value Concentrates line of organic gardening products from Safer Brand include some of their most popular formulas, Insect Killing Soap, 3-in-1 Garden Spray, and Bug Patrol. Consumers of the Safer Brand line of Best Value Concentrates also receive a free sprayer bottle (32oz, 50oz, or 128oz), depending upon intended use. This line of Best Value Concentrates will make 1 gallon and include additional mixing options for smaller dilution options.

The OMRI® Listed Safer Brand Insect Killing Soap 2.5oz concentrate is powered by insecticidal soap to eliminate soft bodied insects such as aphids, thrips, mealybugs and whiteflies. By eliminating the protective outer shell of the insect, Insect Killing Soap eliminates soft-bodied insects on contact and is effective on a number of insects. This 2.5 oz concentrate will make up to 1 gallon of insect killing power.

The OMRI Listed Safer Brand 3-in-1 Garden Spray 8oz concentrate takes the guesswork out of gardening by combining the power of a fungicide, an insecticide and a miticide in one! No longer do people need to be a gardening expert to have a healthy garden as 3-in-1 provides them the powerful 1-2-3 punch they need to keep their garden insect and disease free. With such a large list of applications, Safer Brand 3-in-1 Garden Spray will arm gardeners for a large variety of gardening issues. This 8oz concentrate will make up to 1 gallon of garden protection.

Safer Brand Bug Patrol 8oz concentrate combines the power of insecticidal soap and organic pyrethrin to eliminate over 40 insects including hard-bodied and soft-bodied insects. While insecticidal soap breaks down the waxy protective membrane of soft bodied insects such as aphids and mealybugs, the organic pyrethrin will break down the hard exoskeleton on hard-bodied insects such as Japanese beetles and earwigs. This 8oz concentrate will provides 1 gallon of lawn and garden damaging insect protection.

The Safer Brand Best Value Concentrate line of organic gardening products provides the effectiveness that gardeners expect, in a convenient formula that allows for easy application, in addition to a free spray bottle. These Best Value Concentrates provides gardeners a powerful new weapon in the fight against garden pests.

Safer Brand Insect Killing Soap, 3-in-1 Garden Spray and Bug Patrol are just the beginning of the single dose concentrate line of organic gardening products. Gardeners have a New Way to Come Together and Support Sustainable Living Just in Time for the Summer Harvest

Gardeners have a New Way to Come Together and Support Sustainable Living Just in Time for the Summer Harvest

Folsom, CA (PRWEB) August 11, 2011

There is a lot of talk about sustainable living and creating sustainable local food sources. While this is an important goal for communities the question is what concrete steps can be taken to move a community toward this goal? lemonsforlimes.com is a new website that allows home gardeners or anyone with a fruit tree, to trade their extra produce with others living nearby. It is an online platform that can be used in any community to support sustainable living.

The website was developed by Lori Barudoni, a mom from Folsom, California. The idea came to her last year when she was inspired by her little lime tree that gave her more limes than she knew what to do with.

The site is fun, whimsical and a powerful tool for home gardeners with an abundance of produce. Unused fruit that has fallen to the ground year after year can now be picked from the tree and traded for a variety of produce. Because the website is based on zip codes it makes it easy for gardeners or those with fruit trees to find each other. Gardeners can list the produce that they have available to trade and even include a bright yellow happy face if the produce was grown organically. Gardeners can search for produce by zip code, and may also enter a produce item that is not currently available at the website on a “wish list” and receive notification when it becomes available.

Gardeners trade their produce on a point system. The advantage of the point system is that gardeners do not have to redeem their points right away. A gardener can harvest and share tomatoes with other members in August, and use those points to pick up limes from a member in October.

The site is designed to spread quickly within a community. All that is needed is a few gardeners in a community to decide that they want to use the website platform to increase food sustainability in their neighborhoods. On the website those members can send an invitation to 4 friends at once, asking them to join them in trading. If each person who joins has two or three friends near them join, the trading group in that area expands rapidly.

“My hope is that lemonsforlimes.com will change the way people think about gardening and edible landscaping as it relates to sustainable living,” says Barudoni. Just think if during this harvest season everyone with a fruit tree or a garden traded their abundance for what they needed with everyone in their zip code, what a difference it would make to the planet as well as the community. The planet would benefit from reducing the amount of resources that go into food being transported so far from the source. Communities would benefit with an increase in the availability of fresh and organic food, decreased grocery bills for families, and as a bonus individuals would be helping the environment by lowering their carbon footprint.

Zion Mountain Ranch Wins Land Conservation Effort

Zion Mountain Ranch Wins Land Conservation Effort

The permanent conservation easement at the eastern corridor of Zion National Park is now protected from commercial development in perpetuity.

Zion National Park, UT (PRWEB) August 11, 2011

Zion Mountain Ranch (ZMR) announces today the successful land conservation acquisition of the 324-acre parcel known as The Buffalo Preserve Acreage just outside the eastern entrance to Zion National Park in Southern Utah. The acquisition is the culmination of a cooperative three-year effort between ZMR, The Virgin River Land Preservation Association (VRLPA) and several public and private donors to secure this critical parcel in a permanent conservation easement, effectively protecting it from commercial development in perpetuity.

The newly conserved Buffalo Preserve Acreage provides shelter and a critical migration corridor for mule deer and other wildlife and includes the archeological site known as Indian Knoll. As a significant addition to the east border of Zion Park, the preservation of this property guarantees that these invaluable view sheds will be available for the enjoyment of future generations of visitors.

The commercial sprawl typically found outside U.S. national park boundaries pose numerous environmental threats to the “gateway areas” surrounding the parks. Such threats include increased traffic, litter, noise, light pollution and the disruption of wildlife habitats and animal migration patterns – all of which impact park resources and the visitor experience. The National Park Service is charged with managing and protecting the parks themselves, but the agency’s authority does not extend beyond park borders, leaving conservation efforts in these “gateway communities” to private interests.

Kevin and Stacy McLaws, sole proprietors of ZMR, are one such private interest. For more than a decade, they have been working tirelessly with land conservation groups and private concerns in Southern Utah to protect the eastern corridor of Zion National Park.

The McLaws’ fight to save the eastern gateway began as an outgrowth of their management of Zion Mountain Ranch; sharing their guests’ first-hand experiences amidst the quiet beauty and simplicity of the area’s wide-open meadows and rangeland. When land sales in the Buffalo Meadow acreage adjacent to the Ranch began, Kevin and Stacy knew what they had to do. Working with local landowners, private investors and conservation organizations like the VRLPA, their unselfish and brilliant strategy to save the passageway from unlimited commercial zoning began to take shape.

“The relationship between land and people is one of inter-dependence, even in this age of technology,” says Kevin McLaws. We are challenged with forgetting this relationship at times. Our fast-paced urbanized lifestyles increasingly disconnect us from something that is an integral part of our core value system and health on several levels. This shows its effects on our society at an ever-accelerating pace, especially in younger generations.

“The natural spaces close to where we spend our time are rapidly disappearing, and with the disappearance of each acre we lose something essential about who we are. The protection of the east Zion passageway is an act of responsible custodianship of a priceless American treasure. You can balance both the interests of land and people with the long haul in mind. Aesthetics, open spaces, wildlife, accommodations, and people; it’s a wonderful mix.”

McLaws explains that the ZMR conservation efforts in East Zion are not anti-land use, but rather, a mindful, sustainable approach to development. “We believe in responsibly balancing the people with the land. Our stewardship of the precious gifts we have been given here on Earth will be a legacy we leave to our children and our children’s children. Special places do not stay that way by accident. Working together with like-minded organizations and members of the community, we are serving the needs of the precious and diminishing open land that has long inspired the vision of the American West. This effort is about ensuring that the vision is here for the enjoyment of generations to come.”

ABOUT ZION MOUNTAIN RANCH

Zion Mountain Ranch (ZMR) is Southern Utah’s premier lodging destination. Adjoining the eastern entrance to Zion National Park, the Ranch offers guests AAA rated luxury cabins, fine dining supplied by Chef Shon Foster and his on-site organic garden, horseback riding, and easy accessibility to the National Park and nearby Lake Powell, Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. In 2010 ZMR began offering its Buffalo Preserve Homesteads as part of its conservation minded community plan – balancing the need for responsible conservancy with rational land use and development. http://www.zmr.com.
